Opera Anywhere online performance Friday 15th October 2020
Welcome to our latest Newsletter – the first ever written in the middle of a global pandemic.
Our first staged production since lockdown was The Mikado, performed at Brighton Open Air Theatre on 25th August in 55mph winds!
We are immensely grateful to Arts Council England who have awarded Opera Anywhere a Covid-19 Emergency Fund grant. This generous grant will support our touring and online programmes. A big thank you to National Lottery players for making it possible for us to make more opera!
Throughout 2020 we have battled to find a way back to live performance. So, it is with the greatest pleasure that we have arrived at this moment, finally together again to experience live staged opera.
For every touring company providing entertainment and presenting events, this year has become a challenging one. At Opera Anywhere we are no different, but our optimistic attitude, fleet of foot and flexible approach enables us to remain positive in the face of adversity.
We were delighted to be invited to an interview by the BBC, prior to our Hansel and Gretel performance at the Bacon Theatre, Cheltenham. Serenna Wagner (production director), her daughter Rosina and Opera Anywhere co-founder Mike Woodward talked to BBC Radio Gloucestershire.
