Ella Marchment to head up Mikado revival
Opera Anywhere is delighted to announce that the opera director and designer, Ella Marchment, will direct a new revival of our long standing and popular Gilbert and Sullivan production of The Mikado.

In 2015 Ella became the first opera director to receive an International Opera Awards bursary, and in 2018 she was both an arts-and-culture finalist in the Women of The Year awards and a semi-finalist in the European Opera-Directing Prize.

Ella holds a first-class honours degree in music – with German and Italian – from King’s College London and the Royal Academy of Music, as well as postgraduate qualifications in set design and teaching drama. She is part of the vocal arts faculty at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in their 2019-2020 season, and other upcoming projects include: directing at The Royal College of Music, The 2020 International Opera Awards, assisting at Dutch National Opera, devising new operas with schools based on Così Fan Tutte for English Touring Opera, and directing scenes at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
