Amahl & The Night Visitors by Menotti
AMAHL & THE NIGHT VISITORS This is the tender, heart-warming story of Amahl, a poor crippled shepherd boy and his devoted mother who are visited one night by three kings, following a star on their way to see baby Jesus. It’s a knock at the door that will change their lives forever. Amahl & The Night Visitors was originally written for television in 1951 and has since become an annual tradition in the USA becoming one of the most frequently performed opera’s of the 20th century.
Opera Anywhere are delighted to be working this year with professional opera singer, Serenna Wagner, who directs the show and has been working closely with the Sunningwell Primary School – which will culminate not just in a performance for the school and parents at Chandlings School on the 18th December but also a public performance at Sunningwell Village Hall on the 23rd December 2017 @ 3pm
Opera Anywhere are immensely grateful for the financial support received from the Sunningwell Poors Land Education Foundation, the Sunningwell Parish Council, the Vale of White Horse District Council, Dave & Barbara Wynn and Mr Alan Baker.
Also many thanks to the head and staff at Chandlings School who are allowing us to use their splendid facilities to present this production.
This year’s performances are dedicated to our great late friend, Mr David Wynn, who passed away suddenly in the summer. David was a true friend and supporter of Opera Anywhere and personally contributed financially to this educational project. He passionately believed that good quality music and drama education should be available to all.
