Patience, a light opera, by Gilbert and Sullivan is the duo’s extremely witty, infrequently performed little masterpiece about the Aesthetic Movement of the 1880s, with willowy poets, sighing maidens, hearty milkmaids and burly officers galore. Every tune is memorable, every word worth hearing, and the humour is as fresh as it was at the first performance.
The Amphitheatre at Waterperry
Opera Anywhere is long established at the Amphitheatre in Waterperry Gardens but this summer brings our most ambitious programme of performances ever. And this year we are delighted to announce a canopy to protect our audiences from the extremes of our British summers! So whether the weather is hot and sunny or wet and windy, the audience experience will be better than ever! Take a look at the images on our Facebook page to get a better feel for the new auditorium. There are cushions provided but you are very welcome to bring your own for maximum comfort.
Dining at Waterperry
Prior to our matinee or evening performances, we invite guests to picnic in the grounds of Waterperry Gardens. Bring your own picnic, or book a Luxury Waterperry Hamper.
During the day, visitors can also visit the Waterperry Teashop for a leisurely lunch or afternoon tea. A Waterperry bar will also be serving alcoholic and soft beverages and snacks throughout the performances.
Tickets purchased for any of our Waterperry events include access to the stunning Waterperry Gardens, a magical place where you are surrounded by beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers, secret corners and long vistas. You will also find the Formal Garden, the Mary Rose Garden, the Waterlily Canal and the Long Colour Border, as well as a recently planted small arboretum in the meadow beyond the Canal.
Other things to explore on the estate include Waterperry House, the Medieval church, the Art-in-Action Art Gallery, Waterperry Museum and the Garden Centre.
