From John O’ Groats to Land’s End… on a Brompton bicycle!
One of our star baritones is taking on a mammoth task this year, not just the fifty or more performances for Opera Anywhere…
David Jones will cycle a thousand miles and give ten concerts during ‘Song Cycle’!
David will be combining his passion for singing with his love of cycling, pedalling from John O’ Groats to Land’s End on his trusty Brompton and giving concerts of Vaughan Williams’s Songs of Travel along the way, as well as folksongs from along the route.
‘Song Cycle’ marks the 60th anniversary of Vaughan Williams’s death and is raising awareness of the fantastic charity Live Music Now. Half of the performances that he gives will be public concerts, and the other half will be given in care homes under the auspices of Live Music Now, furthering their life-changing work with people who are living with dementia. There’s lots more information about where he’ll be singing on the Song Cycle website.
The project has received generous support from the Vaughan Williams Charitable Trust, Hope Scott Trust, Audition Oracle and a number of private individuals, but he is still trying to raise the final money necessary to complete the project to the highest standard, including the production of a short documentary film. Please do consider supporting and sharing him .. crowdfunding page on JustGiving.
