Spreading our wings!
We’ve been spreading our wings big time this year, touring no less than four productions, three Gilbert & Sullivan including The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance and our brand new H.M.S.Pinafore. We’ve had an absolute ball and judging from the numerous emails and messages we’ve received from our audiences, so have they – which is pretty crucial and means we keep getting invited back!
Our Magic Flute continues to tour and we have a busy autumn ahead of us, we’re just setting off for North Norfolk to our favourite little theatre at Sheringham and following that we’ll be on the South Coast in West Wittering.
But we haven’t forgotten our rootes here in Oxfordshire so our regular visit to Thame in November is in the plan and a return to the marvellous JDP Music Building at St Hildas College, Oxford to perform our new H.M.S.Pinafore. Please do check out our diary page on our website for more information.
|A new initiative for Opera Anywhere this Christmas is our plan to bring ‘The Magic of Opera’ into the context of a Christmas party, working with our partners at The Manor Hotel, Weston on the Green, on the 21st December. Join us for a sumptuous 3 course dinner in the decadent Baronial Hall where you will be transported to the magical world of opera.|
We’re also planning an educational initiative with our local primary school in Sunningwell; a collaborative performance of a Christmas favourite ‘Amahl & The Night Visitors’ by Menotti. We’ve been offered a fabulous venue at Chandlings School for a performance on the 18th December, we hope to repeat a performance in our local Church in Sunningwell on the 23rd December. We’re just waiting on some grant applications before we can confirm the final details.
2018 is already looking extreme! Many Magic Flutes and numerous G&S performances are on the cards as well as an idea brewing to produce a Puccini opera ‘Sister Angelica’.
So much work to do and not enough bodies in the office to help us make this happen, so if you know of any appropriately skilled people who could donate an hour or more a week for the cause, do put them in touch! See here for more information.
