The Opera Anywhere Gilbert & Sullivan Festival On Tour!
Spreading our wings!
Opera Anywhere is delighted to announce an expansion of our touring season and a new Gilbert and Sullivan production, H.M.S. Pinafore. And so, along with our Mikado and Pirates of Penzance productions, we have created our own ‘Gilbert and Sullivan Festival on tour’.
We are returning to many of our favourite theatres and venues from recent years, including the lovely little theatres at Sheringham, Lewes, Dorchester and Thame, but also our regular Oxfordshire venues of the amphitheatre at Waterperry Gardens, where we will be performing all three of our Gilbert and Sullivan productions. This time at Waterperry we will have the luxury of being completely undercover, so whatever the weather, we will all be comfortable.
In August, we will return to Wolfson College, performing our Pirates on punts and also our Pinafore on punts! In addition, we are delighted to announce that we will be introducing two evening concerts at Wolfson College, on the River entitled ‘The Music of Morse at the Proms’.
This year we also take our Gilbert and Sullivan Festival to the theatres in Banbury and Chipping Norton and we have also been invited to take part at the Lamberhurst Festival and the Hever Festival, both in Kent. Uniquely, we will also be presenting our Pirates of Penzance on the new Hastings Pier in August.
Over Easter, in our home village of Sunningwell, where Opera Anywhere where born, we are presenting ‘The Crucifixion’ by John Stainer, in a unique come and sing performance, do consider joining us either with the ad hoc choir or in the audience on this very special Easter day, the 14th April. In Oxford on 24 June, we will also be providing a come and sing performance of H.M.S. Pinafore in collaboration with, Cumnor choral society. It would be a great if you could share your enthusiasm of Gilbert and Sullivan by joining our come and sing chorus on that day.
We are also excited about returning to the lovely communities we have visited this year with our performances including West Wittering, Steeple Aston and Cumnor, but now also a lovely little church in West Sussex in the village of Warbleton.
We do hope we will see you at one or more of our events this year, do take a look at our website for further information and should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us either via email, our social media channels or via telephone on (01865) 735910.
