To Battle & Beyond!
‘Stephen’ the stag lives close to the Opera Anywhere office, in the fields adjacent to our music department. We are treated to his warm, rich, bass voice as he uses his vocal prowess to impress all those around him. Many have likened him to the welsh bass-baritone, Bryn Terfel!
Stephen is an impressive beast and for a few weeks at this time of year he performs to impress those around him, encouraging plans to bring new birth in the Spring!
Stephen has been quite an inspiration to Opera Anywhere; we have been encouraged to open our eyes to the new opportunities that lie ahead of us. We will be announcing soon details of an important new partnership, which will include a new opera festival, based in Witney, the ‘gateway’ to the Cotswolds. We will also soon be publishing details of our 2019 touring programme, which includes performances at several new festivals and venues.
However, before we embark on our exciting plans for 2019, just as Stephen needs to concentrate on the ‘business’ to hand we need to go to Battle!
We are delighted that our Magic Flute production has been selected to appear at the Battle Festival, near Hastings, on Sunday 7th October, closely followed by a visit to West Sussex with a performance of the Pirates of Penzance on the 12th October and Puccini’s Heroines on 13 October.
We will be touring our Gilbert and Sullivan Festival, performing all four productions at Thame in Oxfordshire, The Mikado at Ockham in Surrey, an H.M.S. Pinafore at Dorchester in Dorset, and concluding the year at the lovely little theatre in Lewes for a performance of our new production, ‘Patience’. Further information is available on our website events page but do feel free to contact us via email, social media or even my phone!
Just as Stephen will be enjoying his new responsibilities next year, we hope you will be as excited as us, about ours!
