Opera Anywhere invites you to our summer season of opera performances, taking place in numerous locations across the country. Whether you’re in the north, south, east, or west, you’ll be able to enjoy our shows without having to travel too far from home*.
This summer, Opera Anywhere is proud to present not one, not two, but five different staged shows! Four of these shows are the most popular Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, including a brand-new production of The Mikado set in Ancient Rome, titled “The Emperor of Rome”. This ingeniously crafted production, directed by Tristan Stocks, features the familiar characters of the Lord High Executioner, Koko, and Nanki-Poo in a new setting as they try to win the heart of Yum Yum while avoiding the wrath of the emperor. With popular songs like “I’ve Got a Little List” and “Three Little Maids from School,” you’ll love singing along to this hilarious journey with a fresh take on a classic story. The first performance of our production of “The Mikado” will take place at the Cotswold Playhouse Theatre in Stroud on June 24th. From there, we’ll be taking the show on the road to North London, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, the Midlands, and back to the Cotswolds, with a final stop in South West London.
Opera Anywhere’s summer season is incomplete without the classic and well-received shows like “The Pirates of Penzance,” “H.M.S. Pinafore,” and the highly successful “Iolanthe” from last year. The company is thrilled to announce new partnerships with several venues this year. What could be a more fitting location to stage “The Pirates of Penzance” than by the seaside, specifically at Margate’s newly constructed Amphitheatre? The production will also travel to the Marine Theatre in Lowestoft, Suffolk. Furthermore, “Iolanthe” will be performed at an Amphitheatre in Dorchester, Dorset.
“Thank you for a wonderful afternoons entertainment in such a beautiful setting. The performance by everyone was first class and natural, we could hear every note and word while sitting in comfort… CONGRATULATIONS”! – Frank & Shirley, audience members – Iolanthe at the Quarry 2022
This summer, we’re excited to present a number of performances of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” including an outdoor show in our secluded garden at an ancient quarry in Sunningwell, just a stone’s throw from Oxford. This intimate setting is the perfect place to enjoy an evening of opera and a picnic, in the company of the directors and founders of Opera Anywhere. If you can’t make the May 13th performance, don’t worry – we have additional shows scheduled at the Theatre in Chipping Norton and the Mansion House in Calderstones Park, Liverpool.
“Thank you all so much for a completely outstanding performance of The Magic Flute on Friday… the packed audience was completely delighted with your approach to this wonderful work”. – Anthony Pinching, Director at Pinner Music Festival, The Magic Flute, 2018

Our primary source of funding comes from ticket sales, and we have a few kind supporters who subscribe to our friends’ schemes. Additionally, we have received some generous donations and grants over the years that have helped us sustain the company.
Currently, we need to raise funds of at least £5000 to develop a new production of ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ that we intend to tour in 2024.
